Ian W. Harrison BVSc,MVS, FACVSc, DACVS

After graduating from the University of Melbourne and completing a Masters Degree in Surgery, Ian came to the USA in 1983 to complete a surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center. His plans to return to Australia upon completion of the residency were put on hold when he met, and subsequently married, Ginny, who was a veterinary technician at New Bolton Center.

After completion of his residency, Ian was on faculty at Auburn University, AL, where his wife, Ginny worked as a surgery and radiology technician. After his promotion to Associate Professor, they decided to move north to be closer to Ginny’s family in Wilmington, DE. Working in several equine private practices along the way, they now reside in Rippon, WV with their two children, Jess and Ben, 3 dogs, 5 horses, 4 sheep, 2 rabbits and a chameleon.

Ian and Ginny own and operate Harrison Equine in Berryville, VA where Ian is a Board Certified Equine Surgeon with a special interest in upper airway diseases and sports medicine.

Virginia Harrison - Veterinary Assistant

Ginny is the Veterinary Assistant at Harrison Equine. She joined Harrison Equine along with her husband Dr. Harrison in 2007. Ginny is very compassionate about all types of animals. She loves to nurse animals back to health. She spends time with the local 4-H and Saddles and Smiles. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family and variety of pets.

Pete Petersen-Veterinary Assistant

Pete is a Veterinary Assistant at Harrison Equine. He joined the practice in 2008. Pete is Dr. Harrison’s part time “right hand.” Pete enjoys spending time with his grandson and fixing anything and everything that is broken. Pete is caring and compassionate towards our patients and clients.

Belinda Zeh - LVT

Belinda is the Licensed Veterinary Technician at Harrison Equine. She joined Harrison Equine in May 2010. She has been a licensed vet tech for over 20 years with special interest in equine medicine, behavior and clinical pathology. She is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and is sincere and thorough when communicating with clients. She enjoys spending time with her 3 dogs and 2 horses. She also enjoys horse back riding, ghost hunting and steeplechase races.

Michele Woodward - Office Manager

Michele is the Office Manager at Harrison Equine. She joined Harrison Equine in November 2010. She has experience in small animal and equine practice management. She is currently attending school and hopes to obtain her Certified Veterinary Practice Mangers credentials within the next year. She enjoys spending time with her family and her many pets.

Emily Kobayashi - Office Assistant

Emily is the Office Assistant at Harrison Equine. She has been with Harrison Equine for over 2 years and loves her job. She is dedicated to making sure our customers’ needs and medical records are taken care of. She is currently attending school and hopes to become a teacher in the future. She enjoys spending time with her significant other and riding her bike.

Rachel King - Receptionist

Rachel is the Receptionist at Harrison Equine. She is the newest member of our team. She is caring and compassionate when it comes to patient and client care. She enjoys spending time with her new kitten “Noah,” family and friends.
